Why use applicator tampons? Periods are a normal part of life, and using a regular tampon or applicator tampon comes down to personal choice. The only difference between Regular Tampons and Applicator Tampons is that an applicator tampon includes a cardboard or plastic applicator (tube) to help guide and insert the tampon into place. If you are new to using tampons, using an applicator may help you to feel sure that your tampon will be inserted properly. Applicator Tampons can also be great if you won’t be able to wash your hands before or after use.
How often should I change my tampon? A tampon should be changed around every 4 to 6 hours. Remember to use the lowest absorbency tampon for your flow, and do not use tampons overnight (Shop Ultra Thin Overnight Pads for the best period protection while you sleep). And, most importantly, never leave a single tampon in for more than 6 hours at a time. Please note, tampons are not intended to be used at any other time or for any other reason than menstrual care.
How do I know when my tampon is full? The super-easy way to check if your tampon is full is to give it a gentle tug by its string. If your tampon pulls out easily then it’s time to change, but if it doesn’t, it generally means you can leave your tampon in for a little more time. As a general rule, if you are using the right absorbency tampon for your flow, about 4 hours is the usual time to change. And, remember, don’t leave a tampon in for more than 6 hours. What if I need to change my tampon after less than 2 hours? If you find you need to change your tampon after less than 2 hours, even when you’re using the right tampon for your flow, you may be experiencing heavy bleeding. Also, if you find clots in your period this may need to be checked. If you have this type of bleeding, you should consult your doctor.
